The Claremont Project was established in 1987. In 1991 it became the first program in Australia to make the commitment to bilingualism. Clearly the bilingual program is still in its infancy. However, our research and results already show that the progress of the young deaf children has been outstanding. Despite this, continuing adaptations will be necessary as further knowledge is gained through our own research and that of others.
